Simplicity Financial Services was started in April 2004 by Rob Downham. After working within a very traditional large financial services practice. Rob decided to start up Simplicity Financial Services, a specialist mortgage brokers based in Sheffield, where he would be able to implement the latest technology and processes to provide the best mortgage and related insurance advice within the UK market.  Rob was shortly joined by his identical twin brother Chris Downham in September 04, who left his National Mortgage Manager role within Zurich Financial Services to embark on the challenge of setting up and running a successful UK financial services practice.                         

Property investment in the UK was very much part of Rob's and Chris's success and this led them into looking further a field for new opportunities within the property market.  A trip to Bulgaria to look at developing a large scale property development led to the formation of the second company in the Simpligroup, SimpliBulgaria. SimpliBulgaria is a new concept in rural property developments, cultural tourism and living. An escape to a tranquil, cultural environment where you can receive excellent service, sample organic cuisine and embrace the local culture.  SimpliBulgaria has gone on to be awarded the best development in Bulgaria, receiving a 5 Star Award the first in Eastern Europe from the Bentley International Property Awards.  SimpliBulgaria was nominated for 4 international property awards in 2006.

Steve Andrews joined Chris and Rob in May 2005 to drive the business forward. Steve joined the Simpligroup as an Executive Director, from his previous roles as National IT consultant and then National Mortgage Manager at Zurich Financial Services and has been at the fore front of the development of the internal business systems, HR, business processes and the development and running of its industry leading websites.

Bulgarian Home Loans was officially launched on the 7th of July 2005.  Bulgarian Home Loans is the UK’s No 1 and only specialist finance and insurance broker for foreigners buying property in Bulgaria.   The company has gone from strength to strength since its launch.  Bulgarian Home Loans has built and driven the Bulgarian mortgage market from having 1 mortgage lender to 8 mortgage lenders with 12 mortgage products, which is creating the much needed competition in the market to drive through product and service improvements.  Bulgarian Home loans has over 350 registered introducers, including property developers, property sales agents, currency exchange providers, financial advisers,  dedicated property and investment websites and estate agents, whom rely on the products and services of Bulgarian Home Loans.
