Bulgaria is set to benefit from €70 million (£66 million) worth of European Union funding, it has been confirmed.

Following on from the news that the country's civil service is to open up its recruitment to skilled foreigners, this new funding boost looks set to further enhance Bulgaria's investment potential.

Forming part of a €5 billion (£4.7 billion) package from the European Union, which is being distributed across the continent, it has been confirmed that the money will be put towards improving the national infrastructure, the Bulgarian news agency BTA quoted Boyko Kotsev, Bulgaria's permanent representative to the EU, as stating.

In particular, millions will be invested in a feasibility study for a proposed gas pipeline connecting Bulgaria with Asia, with such an improvement in energy links likely to substantially boost the national economy and thereby promote further investment in the country, including its burgeoning property sector.

Earlier this week, experts told the Sofia Echo that recent reversals have made the Bulgarian property market 'ripe for investment', with a large number of bargains now available.ADNFCR-1548-ID-19079720-ADNFCR
