Investors 'taking risks in emerging markets'
Investments
24th April 2008
Investors keen to make gains by putting their capital at risk are increasingly looking to emerging markets for opportunities.
So claims Barclays Wealth, which states that a survey of 742 customers with protected investments revealed a trend towards such markets.
Established areas such as UK equities and European opportunities fell somewhat short of emerging markets, although property also outperformed these sectors.
Colin Dickie, director of Barclays Wealth, said of the
investments and savings news: "Investors want exposure to the high returns emerging markets has the potential to deliver but remain wary of the area's volatility and diversity."
Those seeking
independent financial advice may be interested in Mr Dickie's assertion that that a lot of market commentary has been dedicated to the use of volatility in managing risk in recent months.
Earlier this month F&C Asset Management noted that emerging markets were outpacing the US in terms of growth, perhaps further increasing their attractiveness as an
investment option.
