Apartments have long been associated with first-time buyers but the trend is changing as downsizers are increasingly being attracted too, a developer has claimed.
According to David Wilson East Midlands, buyers looking to downsize their living space have been showing great interest at the company's Old Hall Gardens development in East Leake, 60 per cent of which is made up of apartments.
"There are many advantages to apartment living so I'm not surprised they are proving to be the top choice at Old Hall Gardens," says sales director Philip Lacey.
"The main benefit is easy living- there is less maintenance required and for downsizers this means having to spend less time on DIY and more time enjoying life, especially if they are retired."
According to Fool.co.uk, many people are increasingly downsizing to release equity to free up cash to spend on other things such as boosting retirement savings or buying a holiday home abroad.
