Give more thought to property renovation, expert advises

Propertyinvestors should think about what they want from a property renovation to get it right, an expert has said.
Speaking at the Grand Designs Live show in Birmingham, Nick Willson of Willson and Bell Architects said that often, an architect can help by thinking about the larger scale.
"Really think about what you want out of the project. Are you fascinated by light? Is it space, storage or sustainability? Write these things down and then the architect will be able to draw out the project more than a builder," he said.
"It's important that you get it right, and you take time to sit down and, before pen has gone to paper, it is important to think: 'What do I want? What is going to make my house better? What's wrong with it now?'"
In August this year Whatprice reported that the average cost of a double storey house extension was £1,056 per metre squared, equalling around £47,114 per job.
