As winter sets in and temperatures drop, property investors can save "significant amounts of energy" by insulating cavity walls, which will in turn save them money, an expert has said.
Making energy savings in a property is "not rocket science" and investors should ensure as little heat as possible is wasted, says Simon Church, Midlands project officer at energy solution provider eaga.
Speaking at the Landlord and Buy-to-Let Show in Birmingham, he said: "It's fairly straight forward. You've got to insulate the property and make sure that the heat that's going into it is going in as efficiently as possible."
"Modern double glazing actually retains a lot more heat in the home not because it's necessarily double glazed but because it provides appropriate draft proofing."
He went on to recommend draft-proofing windows saying "you will save a significant amount of money and improve the comfort level".
Through the Home Energy Saving Programme, homeowners can benefit from 50 per cent reductions on insulation, which includes free cavity wall and loft insulation.
